Things have been quite exciting at the ATA since we launched in November last year. We have put together a great network of mentors and NGOs, and even opened the ATA Lab at Samarthanam’s premises. More importantly, we found some great startups to work with – Eye-D, Innovision and InClov . Our journey with them has been great! We learnt from them as much as they did from us.
The biggest insight we got through these engagements is the realisation that the Assistive Technology ecosystem needs a more programmatic approach. There are several startups facing the same challenges, and we need to reach out to more of them. This has encouraged to launch ATA Enable, a first-of-its-kind program in the country.
In this 16-week program to help these startups tackle the issues unique to this ecosystem. Each startup will be assigned an Industry Leader as a Mentor. These mentors are veterans with experience in building large businesses for companies like Microsoft, Infosys, Yahoo, Microland, Planetasia etc and will work with the startup closely throughout the program. In addition, disability and technology experts will also work in their respective areas with startup teams during the program.
Over the course of the program, we will be helping the startups on various critical aspects of building scalable Assistive Technology Businesses, including developing Growth Strategies, Product Design & Management, Operating Plans and Investment Strategy. The core of the program is to help them come up with a milestone based Operating Plan that can align their long term growth with short term activities. Another important aspect of the program is to educate them on how to build strong team through hiring and engaging the right advisors.
Samarthanam has one of the largest networks of disability experts who understand the Assistive Technology space. We will be engaging these experts to conduct workshop for the cohort start-ups. A strict regime of weekly governance & review meetings will ensure we are able to support every start-up to best of our abilities and give them the growth they need.
At the end of the program, the entrepreneurs have a Demo Day to look forward to, where they will present their companies to an esteemed audience comprising Industry Leaders, Investors, Government Officials, Disability Experts and other stakeholders of the ecosystem.
If you are working on an Assistive Technology product or solution that can help millions to live a life of ease and dignity, we would love to part of your journey. The Summer 2019 cohort commences shortly, and we are looking for startups to become part of our program. The applications are open!
